St. James Lutheran Church is a congregation of some 2,000 members in the heart of Verona, Wisconsin. Our mission is to be a community of receiving, growing, and giving. We receive God’s love, and grace is a free gift offered to all. We grow in love and understanding of the Good News of Jesus Christ. We give, trusting that receiving and growing lead to lives of generosity, service, and compassion. St. James was founded in 1886. From its origins to today we seek to be a community where God’s love is heard and shared. Members are involved in many ways: through worship, learning, service, leadership, visitation, care and fellowship. We seek to be a generous and welcoming congregation, knowing all that God has given us we are called to share. We are a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. During the school year we offer Sunday School for three-year-olds through sixth grade, and Confirmation for seventh and eighth graders. We have a fully-staffed nursery on Sunday mornings. The St. James Preschool offers morning and afternoon classes for 3-5-year-old children. We welcome you to join us. You can contact one of our pastors, Kurt Billings or Peter Narum, any time. Our members and visitors come from Verona, Madison, Fitchburg, Oregon, New Glarus, Belleville, Mt. Horeb and beyond. At St. James we are not perfect, we are forgiven! We are not important and powerful, we are loved! That is the Good News we have from Jesus. Join us in receiving, growing, and giving in Jesus’ name. |
